Vince
Sings Mylo's Praises
Here are an excerpts from recent
Sundaymail.co.uk article:
"Erasure's Vince Clark is the latest
star to reveal he's a big fan of Scots dance superstar Mylo.
The producer helped create electronic music and now - speaking just
days after bandmate Andy Bell announced he is HIV positive -Vince is
excited at the way modern bands develop his ideas. He said: 'I loved
the Mylo record. Mylo and bands like The Killers are using
electronic music in new ways, pushing the envelope.'
New album Nightbird will be out in
January, followed by a tour including Scots dates in February.
Vince said: 'Andy has a sort of
enchanted forest theme in mind, with him dressed as some sort of
warped Elvis - I'll probably look like Gandalf."

Bell: I Wanted Be A Gay Man
Another article / interview with Andy
Bell has been published at Trustthedj.com. Here are again some
interesting excerpts from it:
"Andy also revealed he’s now finally
quit cocaine after joining Narcotics Anonymous and added that he’s
regained his confidence after undergoing re-birthing.
“From the re-birthing experience I understood that I’d always wanted
to belong in groups; I wanted be a gay man, I wanted to be a drug
addict and I wanted to be HIV positive,” he said. “I became all of
those things, though I finally decided that what mattered was me- I
finally learned how to be myself.”"

'Breathe' Digital Download
I'm sure many of you were disappointed
that the 'Breathe' digital release apparently failed to reach the
Top 20 in the official UK Download Charts.
Well Mute and myself were more shocked than anything, as the sales
figures reported should have put it in the Top 10.
Unfortunately what happened was that an error with a third parties
sales reports meant that over 1,000 sales weren't counted and, had
they have been, 'Breathe' would have been a top ten download that
week.
*insert sound of head hitting table*
Moving on, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the
EIS members who supported this digital release - the commitment you
guys have demonstrated certainly bodes well for the single release
in January, and I would like to thank Mute for making Breathe
available early for fans.

Hamburg
- Red, Hot & Dance Mini Review
Although Vince was unavailable, Andy put
on a superb performance, ably assisted by Ann-Marie and Val. The
original plan was to perform three songs, 'Breathe', 'A Little
Respect' and 'Sometimes'. However during the rehearsal, 'Take A
Chance On Me' was added for the encore, and during the actual live
performance the crowd response was so great that 'Breathe' was
performed again as a second encore. Great stuff!
An interview with Andy (in German) by Corinna can be read on the

did!

"Red,
Hot + Dance" Report / Brief News From Andy
Here is a report from "Red, Hot +
Dance" party written by Jens Pielawa
for erasure.ru. Thank you, Jens!
"On Dec., 4th, we attended the Red
Hot and Dance AIDS charity party in Hamburg. Of course the whole
german community was there to watch the first live performance of
"Breathe". Erasure was announced, but unfortunately Vince Clarke was
stuck in New York due to political problems. But Andy, Val and
Ann-Marie apperared around midnight. While the music came from a
tape, Andy began to sing "Breathe" - and it was astounding how many
people already knew the lyrics and sung by, which may be a proof for
the song's earwig quality.
After a wuthering applause Andy sang
"A Little Respect" and "Sometimes". The encore was "Take A Chance On
Me", where Andy missed the whole first verse, but was compensating
that with dancing. After the band left the stage, host Markus Tirok
animated the audience for another storming applause, and the last
encore was "Breathe" again. You can watch a short video from the
appearance at:
http://www.pielawa.de/download/rhad.rm
and a photograph also has some photos online at:
http://www.karl-mai.de/images...
There were two interviews given by Andy to Jens Höhner and Corinna
Samow from erasure.de, which can be viewed here:
http://home.arcor.de/timhoehner/erasure.htm
http://www.erasure.de/erasure/interview...
Some news from Andy: he got bored fast of OPS and does not want to
sing any songs from this album anymore. His solo album is completed,
but he has trouble to find a label, as Mute or EMI don't want to
release it, but other labels are interested. The acoustic album may
be released after the tour, but it's not certain yet. The second
single from "Nightbird" will be "Don't Say You Love Me". There are
27 songs for the tour, Vince has all of them rearranged, beginning
with i. e. "Hideaway" and "No Doubt", as well as 5 other "Nightbird"
titles or i. e. "Drama", "Brother And Sister" or "Knocking On Your
Door", and they seem to be great according to Andy. He hates that
the Nightbird album is circulating already in the Internet and finds
the release of the digital "Breathe" single as too early."

They say you know you're getting

I never expected someone as youthful and energetic as Erasure's Andy
Bell to admit to not one but two hip replacements.

unashamedly spectacular dancing on stage.
Andy and I had a few capuccinos together this week, and was full of

"Breathe" Video Idea
The new Erasure video for "Breathe"
(directed by Christian Bevilacqua) is a modern version of the
classic Hans Christian Andersen story of "The Little Matchstick
Girl". Here is the full text of it:
"It was the last night of the year,
New Year eve and much cold! It snowed and soon it was going to be
night. In the cold of the dark, a poor little girl wandered by the
street barefoot and without a scarf on her head. The truth is that,
before leaving the house she was wearing slippers, but they had not
served much. These were too big and her mother had already used
them. They were so big that the little girl, in her haste, lost them
when crossing the street between two carts. One of the slippers was
never found and the other was found by a boy who wanted to use it of
cradle for when he had his own children. The girl wandered by the
streets with her barefoot feet, which were blue of cold. In her old
apron she had several matches and she had not gained a cent. She was
much hungry and cold, and looked very weak. Poor girl!
From the windows the lights were seen shining and the whole street
dismissed the wonderful scent of roasted meat. The only thing the
girl could think about was that that night was New Year's Eve.
She seated in a corner and tried to warm up herself between two
houses. She felt more and more cold , but didn't dared to return to
the house because she hadn't sold a match and hadn't gained a cent.
His father could punish her and on the other hand it was cold in the
house also. They lived in a small house and the wind entered by all
sides, even thought the cracks were covered with straw and rags.
Her hands were almost dead by the cold. An ignited match at least
would help! If only she could remove one from the handful, ignite it
against the wall and warm up her fingers! Then she removed one.
Whoosh! How it sparked! How it warmed! It was a smooth flame, just
as a candle protected with her hands around.
But that stranger light! To the girl it seemed that she was seated
in front of a great iron kitchen with casseroles and pots with
polished and shining metal knobs. The fire was magnificent and gave
much heat! As soon as the girl had stretched her feet to warm them
up, the flame was extinguished and the kitchen disappeared. There
she was left alone sitting with a small piece of the match burned in
her hand.
The girl ignited another match that shone and where the light was
reflected in the wall was seen as transparent as a gauze. The girl
could see a room where there was a table covered with a white table
cloth and a fine porcelain game. There was goose roasted, stuffed
with plums and apples, that filled the room with a delicious scent.
What a surprise! The goose jump of the plate and rolled suddenly by
the floor, just towards where she was. It still had the fork and the
knife in its back. Then the match was extinguished and nothing was
left, except the thick and frost wall.
She ignited a third match. Immediately she saw herself seated under
a magnificent Christmas tree. It was much more great and had better
decoration than the one that she had seen through the large crystal
windows of the house of the rich retailer last Christmas. Thousands
of candles were ignited on the green branches and seemed that all
the color figures smiled to her. The girl raised both hands and the
match was extinguished. The candles of Christmas rose more and more
high and then she realized it was the stars. One of them fell,
leaving one long firing line in the sky.
"Somebody is dying", whispered the girl, thinking about her
grandmother, who had been the only good person with her, but that
already died and who used to say to her: "If you see a star fall
means that a soul goes for the sky".
She scraped another match in the wall, which gave her a magnificent
light. This time, in the middle of brilliance, she saw her
grandmother. She looked so sweet and so radiating! "Oh grandma, take
me with you", shouted the girl. "When the match is extinguished, I
know that you no longer will be here. You will have disappeared like
the iron kitchen, roasted goose and the beautiful Christmas tree".
Suddenly, she ignited the rest of the handful of matches because she
wanted to continue seeing her grandmother and the matches shone
gloriously, more than the light of the day. Never before she had
ever seen her grandmother so tall and so beautiful. She took to the
girl between her arms and the two flew radiating happiness, higher
and higher to where there were no cold, no hunger and there were no
more sufferings. They were in the paradise.
In the cold, early morning, the girl was still sitting in the corner
between the two houses. Her cheeks were pink and had a smile in her
lips. She was dead, frozen by the cold in New Year's Eve. The next
morning shone, on her small body seated with the matches, a hank
almost completely burned.
"She only wanted to warm up herself"
Somebody said. But no one ever knew the beautiful things that she
had seen, nor the brilliance that had entered the New Year with her
old grandmother".

the band in a number of unique ways. These features include the
revolutionary improvisation feature, the possibility to customise
and save your creations, and real time mixing.
Features offered:
• Digital Improvisation: get a new mix at the touch of a button. No
two mixes are ever the same.
• Customise the track to make your own mix: this feature allows the
user to customise every single element of the track using bonus
material supplied by the band.
• Dynamic mixing: remix the track in real time.
"This is a really interesting piece of software I think the fans
will love".

Andy
Bell's Solo Album
Here
are an excerpt from Chris Smith's (Manhattan Clique) email he sent
to
twc-erasure yahoo group:
"...Andy's solo album is nearing
completion, there are nearly 20 tracks to choose from for the album
now, sounding brilliant and we'll have some proper info for you all
early in the New Year when it's done and dusted...very exciting.
Both manhattanclique.com and andybell.com will also be up and
running soon. Sorry about the delay, but we've had an album to make!
Glad you are enjoying the remix of 'Breathe' we did with Andy - one
of the best we've ever done - let's hope it does well, it's a class
single for sure... ...Thanks for all your support, it's mucho
appreciated....
