Give Tilly A Hand
On Monday 22nd January 2007 Adam and Sarah Lockey were told that their daughter Tilly had little chance of survival after contracting group B meningococcal septicaemia. Four weeks in Newcastle General Hospital and 10 blood transfusions later she miraculously pulled through! 17-month-old Tilly lost both hands and all her toes as a result of the disease and now faces numerous challenges...
Here is a quote from Tilly's website:
"CALLING ALL CELEBS OUT THERE... WE NEED YOU HANDS TO HELP BUY TILLY NEW ONES!
The “Give Tilly a Hand Appeal” is exactly what it says - Tilly needs our help to raise money to buy new hands.
We are focusing on finding celebrities that are willing to give us their hands - by that we mean we want them to do a hand print/draw around their hand, customize their hand however they wish (for example, to let us know what you do, who you are etc) and then sign it."
The artwork/castings will then be auctioned off to raise money for Tilly’s new hands. Little Tilly needs a few sets of prosthetic hands each year as she grows, with each costing £20 000. Photography for Little People have kindly donated their clay casting services as an alternative method for celebs to produce a hand print. Andy and Vince were the ones, who took part with the casting.
