Greg EIS - "Without Trees, Where Would We Be?":

Hello all

A packed newsletter today - so I'll get straight on.

(Whilst I'm writing this newsletter the EIS office roof is leaking. I've come to the rather rapid conclusion that wet cardboard is *not* a good smell)

Where was I? Oh yes...

¨ "Buried Treasure II" And "EIS Live"

For those of you with long memories, back in the late 90's the EIS released two CDs exclusively for the fan club. "Buried Treasure" (released 1997) featured various unreleased tracks and demos. The second CD "An Evening With Erasure" (released 1998) featured live tracks from the EIS Manchester gig.

As it's the 8th and 9th anniversaries of these releases, I figured that was the perfect excuse to do another two limited edition CDs!

- "Buried Treasure II" -

This will feature a variety of demos and unreleased material from various Erasure albums; including several tracks from the original "Loveboat" studio sessions plus Andy Bell's audition recordings from 21 years ago.

- "EIS Live" -

This will featured unreleased live tracks from the Manchester "An Evening With Erasure" gig and a selection of songs from the Leicester EIS'04 convention.

Further information, pricing, release date etc for these limited edition EIS CDs will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

¨ Lucy McKenzie: Ten Years Of Robotic Mayhem

¨ Live DVD "On The Road To Nashville"

Unfortunately the DVD has had to be pushed back to early next year. It will be worth the wait!

¨ Change The EIS E-mail Newsletters?

I've been debating whether or not to send out HTML versions of the EIS E mail Newsletters *as well* as these plain text versions.

An HTML formatted newsletter would allow for better formatted links, the inclusion of small images, and generally a more interesting layout. This would be in addition to the plain text e-mail newsletters that are currently sent out - you would decide which version you would like to receive.

So I need to see if there is sufficient demand for HTML formatted newsletters - so vote via the Erasure Forum here:

¨ Website Of Interest - Paul Hickey's MySpace Site

Thank you for all those that have registered to read the synopsis of Paul Hickey's autobiography and left comments via his MySpace blog (as mentioned in the previous newsletter). If you haven't had the opportunity to register or leave a comment so far, then it is not too late to do so.

¨ New Release Of Interest - "Robopop: The Return"

Of interest to fans of electro pop music and of Manhattan Clique (who have mixed several Erasure songs in the past, and worked with Andy Bell on the 'Electric Blue' album) is the new album "Robopop √ The Return".

This is a brand new double CD compilation of UK electro pop talent, featuring established acts such as Goldfrapp, Tiga & The Knife, and showcasing emerging bands such as Matinee Club, Formatic & Dragonette.

Featuring a total of 34 tracks, CD1 features original versions, while CD2 is a continuous mix of remixes of the same tracks as CD1, mixed together by Virgin Records' DJs and remixers Manhattan Clique.

Most of the album features either brand new tracks or mixes/remixes exclusive to this compilation, totaling a whopping 140 minutes of music!

To celebrate this new release, there is an album launch party at "Too2Much" (London) on the 9th Nov. Playing live are the "la creme de la creme" of the electro pop scene: Matinee Club, SuperJupiter and Formatic plus very special guest to be announced. Greg EIS - "Paul Hickey's Autobiography":

Hello

You may recall from various interviews with Andy Bell in recent years that his partner and manager Paul Hickey has written an autobiography, "Happiness Is The Best Facelift".

Paul HickeyThe book gives a powerful insight into how his and Andy's lives together changed with the phenomenal success of Erasure, and paints a vivid picture of what it was like for Paul to suffer a stroke and to be struck down in the prime of life. One learns from the book that it is never too late to start doing the right thing, and that it is always worth putting up a fight, even when all the cards seem to be stacked against you...

Paul has set up a presence on myspace.com, where one can read a detailed synopsis of his book plus a breakdown of the first two chapters in his blog.

Now this is where your help would be appreciated. Basically we need to demonstrate with hard figures the demand for the book to potential publishers. So it would be of a great assistance if you could leave feedback / comments via Paul's myspace blog of what you think about what you have read and if it is a publication that would interest you.

Paul's Myspace site: http://www.myspace.com/minotaurmusic
Friend Request: http://collect.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction...

One will be required to request becoming a friend in order to read the blog (all requests will be approved), again this is in order to demonstrate (to a certain extent) the interest. Because of this, please do not republish the synopsis on other websites / blogs / forums etc.

Thank you

Greg

¨ Gareth's Diary - Next Part

Days 4 to 6 of Gareth's diary have been added:

- Andy has named all the songs, whereas Vince and Gareth are still using the original numbers;

- On Monday, 9th October was the first "proper" day in the studio. They spent all day working on one song (P7). Andy did a lot of lyric writing - Gareth think the lyrics are almost complete for this song;

- On 10th October the session started at midday and they dived into another song. They bought a cheap printer and Andy started printing out lyrics. They also did their first vocal session, Andy in fine voice.

News from Gareth Jones' website:

"Flew to Boston with Andy today. Tomorrow morning we take the Amtrak up to Portland where I have rented a house for the studio and me to live in, and a nice looking apartment for Andy. We are putting speakers in the house and a couple of Computers and a Microphone (minimal setup). Mostly soft synths but I have with me my Access Virus TI and Nord G2 Modular. We will then start with Vince on developing the songs that we have been working on in pre-production, but now all 3 of us in the same room. Right now we are in a really horrible hotel, but it's only one night......

Hopefully the accomodations in Portland will be grand."
