Quite a short newsletter this week but I think it's the calm before the storm as we get ever closer to the release of the Phantom Bride EP on October 12th and The Innocents 21st anniversary edition on October 26th. Trust me, behind the scenes it's the usual whirl of activity and without giving too much away who would have thought it was possible to get so obsessed over window stickers? More on that, and much more, very soon!

Thanks to Mikel this week's greeting and farewell are in Euskera, the language used in the Basque region that covers parts of Spain and France...

Phantom Bride EP - Second Audio Clip Online

Andy Bell Pre-Erasure Demo Online

Another audio clip available to you this week is a demo from Andy Bell's pre-Erasure project Dinger. The song is called 'Air Of Mystery' and Andy thinks it was recorded around 1985. The song is online now on Andy's MySpace page and also in the Biography section of his website... enjoy!

Family Fantastic To Release Third Album?

It seems that Family Fantastic, a side project Vince Clarke band are ready to release their third album. Here is the quote from the recent BBC article:

"Creswick has been writing and producing with Vince Clarke from Erasure and Yazoo for retro disco act Family Fantastic. They are about to embark on their third album and will be performing at Manchester Pride later this month."

There is no any official announcement about Family Fantastic being performing at Manchester Pride, though. There is no mention of the band at Manchester Pride website also.

Family Fantastic released two albums: "Nice!.." (2000) and "Wonderful" (2007). Vince Clarke worked on both of them (with other musicians and singers of course).

BBC 4: Synth Britannia

"Synth Britannia" is a documentary about the British synth pop scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s, featuring contributions from Vince Clarke, Neil Tennant, Philip Oakey, Martin Gore, Bernard Sumner and Gary Numan. It will be shown on BBC 4 this new autumn/winter season. No transmission date has been given yet.

Andy Bell Solo Album

I was lucky enough to meet up with Andy last week to talk about all sorts of online bits and pieces, and I was lucky enough to hear some finished tracks from his forthcoming solo album and I have to say they sound brilliant! Obviously I will bring you all the news on that as soon as I'm able, but I just wanted to let you all know that it's in the pipeline... in the meantime I've updated Andy's website with a couple of pictures I took of Andy in the studio with Pascal Gabriel back in May. Andy also confirmed that he is meeting up with Vince again shortly to start work on the new Erasure album!

New Vince Clarke Remix

It seems that Vince has remixed the forthcoming single from A Place To Bury Strangers. 'In Your Heart' will be released by Mute on September 21st in the UK and is the first single from the new A Place To Bury Strangers album 'Exploding Head' which is scheduled for an October 5th release.

"Erasure.Club" EP + "ABBA-Esque" Remix EP Out This Week

Erasure's six-track EP "Erasure.Club" - featuring six remixes that were originally released as promotional mixes for clubs back in 1990 and were not for commercial release - is released this week!

Vince Clarke Remixed A Place To Bury Strangers

According to EMI press release:

"A Place To Bury Strangers announce the release of 'In Your Heart', out 21 September 2009 in the UK, on their new label Mute. 'In Your Heart' will be the first single off the NY combo's hotly anticipated new album 'Exploding Head', due for release on 5 October 2009.

The package for this single includes mixes from Cereal Spiller and Mute label-mate Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure), plus an exclusive non-LP track, 'Strictly Looks'."

A Place to Bury Strangers is a New York based indie rock band composed of Oliver Ackermann (guitar/vocals), Jono Mofo (bass) and Jay Space (drums). The band plays a heavy, atmospheric wall of sound-influenced blend of psychedelic rock, shoegaze and space rock.

Polly Scattergood "Other Too Endless" US Release

Polly Scattergood released a new single "Other Too Endless" in USA through Mute on July 7, 2009. The digital-only single package features the exclusive B-side "Crystal Breaks" and an "Other Too Endless" remix by Vince Clarke (Erasure, Yazoo, Depeche Mode).

We seem to have developed a truly international theme to these newsletter greetings and I've had loads of emails from fans around the world teaching me how to say hello and goodbye in their language (thank you... "Erasure" Album Reissue

Mute have reissued Erasure's 1995 album 'Erasure'. The new edition is exactly the same as the previous one except that instead of being packaged in a Digipac it comes in a regular plastic CD jewel-case. You can buy the reissue over at the Official Erasure Shop!
