EIS Newsletter:
Jambo!
There might not have been enough news for a newsletter last week but I'm not going to leave you in peace for two weeks in a row. There still might not be much news, but what I have is of pretty good quality I think! Am I right?*
Erasure Album Update
The lyrics to fourteen new songs are now place (the word 'machismo' has been used, the word 'threshold' has not); swordfish has been barbecued; pizza has been eaten; beer (Vince) and Dirty Martini's (Andy) have been drunk; and Andy lost a sock to a seagull… all part of the recent Erasure writing and recording sessions in Maine which came to a close this week. Those snippets have all been gleaned from the studio's Twitter updates that I know loads of you have been enjoying, along with the webcam images from The Cabin. More on the new Erasure album soon, but in the meantime you can still watch Vince working in The Cabin via the studiocam!
Vince Clarke Remixes Goldfrapp
Vince has remixed the Goldfrapp track 'Believer' which will be released as a single on September 6th but if you can't wait that long then you can listen to an edit of Vince's mix in the music section on his website. The single will also feature remixes from Subway, Joris Voorn and Davide Rossi.
Andy Bell Autographed Transit Van Up For Auction
Andy Bell recently attended the MOJO Magazine annual awards show where - along with Depeche Mode's Andrew Fletcher - he presented Mute Records founder Daniel Miller with the prestigious MOJO Medal awarded for 'services to music' (there's video of the presentation in the news section on Andy's website if you fancy a peep). While at the ceremony Andy autographed a scale model of a Ford Transit van for the event sponsor Ford, who are now auctioning the model - and models signed by other celebrities attending the awards - to benefit the War Child charity. For more details, and for the chance to bid on the van, or any of the items in the auction, see the news section on Andy's website.

Courtesy of Martin (thank you!), this week's greeting and farewell are in Kiswahili (also known as Swahili), one of the African languages and the official language of Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo…
Kwaheri!

Kaispera!
Well the most exciting piece of news this week is that Vince Clarke and Andy Bell are currently working on the new Erasure album together at Vince's studio, The Cabin, in the USA. The new sessions started on Tuesday and you don't have to just take my word for it because we've set up a webcam in Vince's studio so you can watch what's going on yourself… how cool is that?
Here's everything you need to know this week...
Watch Vince & Andy In The Studio…
You can take a peek at what is going on in The Cabin, Vince's recording studio, via a live webcam feed from the studio which is running on Vince Clarke's official website. You can also see a few of my favourite shots from the last few days in the news section of the Erasure website!

Andy Bell 'Say What You Want' Remix Competition Winner
From the original 98 entries received we sent the shortlist of six remixes (decided by the votes cast by people visiting Andy's website) over to Andy Bell and Mute Records to decide the overall winner. After much debate Andy has made the final selection, so ladies and gentlemen we have a winner and it is... Ste Ashworth's 'Say What You Want (Joy Joy Mix)'! Congratulations to Ste - whose remix will be featured on a future Andy Bell release - you can hear his winning remix online at Andy's website.
Vince Clarke Birthday Guestbook
Vince celebrated his birthday at the weekend and, as usual, Sherry has set up a guestbook for anyone who wants to leave him a birthday message. Unfortunately we didn't have the link to include in last week's newsletter before Vince's big day but retrospective messages are still welcome if you fancy leaving one!
Yazoo To Answer Your Questions!
Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet have agreed to answer your questions about the forthcoming Yazoo live album, 'Reconnected Live' - which is be released on September 27th in the UK and Europe and on September 28th in the US - and about Yazoo in general for a special feature to run on the Yazoo website, as well as on the official Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke websites. If you would like to submit a question for us to consider asking Vince, Alison or the both of them, then you can do so using the form on the Yazoo website. All questions will be considered and we will ask as many as we possibly can!

Andy Bell US Photographs
As you know, Andy was promoting the release of his 'Non-Stop' album around the USA for around ten days before joining Vince in the studio this week, and there is a selection of pictures from Andy's appearances online at his website if you fancy having a look. There are pictures from Andy's half-hour set at San Francisco's Pride, his CD signing at New York's Barnes & Noble bookstore and from his visit to the Hetrick Martin Institute - better known as The Harvey Milk High School - and from his Q&A with some of the students there.
More Robot Unicorns...
Robot Unicorn Attack has already had pretty regular mentions in this newsletter as a result of Erasure's 'Always' being used as the game's soundtrack. To be honest I thought we were pretty much done with the subject but this week I stumbled across an online interview with Scott Stoddard, who invented Robot Unicorn Attack, that also talks about how 'Always' came to be used in the first place, which I thought was enough to make it worth sharing…
Courtesy of Vangelis, this week's greeting and farewell are in Greek. Thanks Vangelis!

Vince Clarke & Polly Scattergood's 'Lovesick' Now On iTunes
Vince Clarke has produced and mixed a new song entitled 'Lovesick' which is sung by Polly Scattergood using lyrics written by Ghostgirl author Tonya Hurley. The lyrics were written for Ghostgirl character Scarlet to sing in the forthcoming book 'Ghostgirl - Lovesick', which is due for publication in July. Polly Scattergood then created the music for the track and provided vocals before handing the track over to Vince Clarke for mixing and production. 'Lovesick' is available to buy now on iTunes (UK/US) in its original version and as an 'Epic Mix'. The song has also been used in an animated trailer for the book which you can see in the news section of Vince Clarke's official website. It's a beautiful piece of music and well worth checking out...

Andy Bell At San Francisco Pride
Andy was a Grand Marshall at the SF Pride Parade at the weekend, where he also played a 30-minute live set (there are loads of videos from his performance online at YouTube but - if you can manage to ignore the sound of the crowd singing along - this is one of the best ones!). Prior to the weekend's events Andy also presented the prestigious San Francisco Pride's Lifetime Achievement Award to Ambassador James Hormel at a special ceremony in the city and you can read his speech in the news section of his website…
Erasure On Big Brother 2010!
I mentioned last week that Erasure's 'A Little Respect' was piped into the Big Brother house as a musical treat for one of the housemates, and that I hadn't been able to find a clip of it for you to watch. Well never fear, courtesy of Dave, you can see the housemates dancing and singing along to 'A Little Respect' about 30 minutes into one of Channel 4's YouTube clips of the show, although you will have to watch all sorts of adverts first and I'm not sure, but it may not be available to you if you're outside the UK. Thanks Dave!
Courtesy of Alex from Brazil, this week's greeting and farewell are in Brazilian Portuguese. Thanks Alex!
Um grande abraço!
