EIS Newsletter:

Hello

There was no newsletter last week because, well because there wasn't really enough news! But I'm back this week in fine style with all sorts of bits and pieces for you from the world of Erasure! Here you go...

Vince Clarke Interview For The Red Bull Music Academy

This is something that Vince Clarke's new website alerted me to last week, an audio interview with Vince in which he talks about all stages of his career to date and comments on various key tracks from Depeche Mode, Yazoo and Erasure. Fascinating stuff and well worth a listen!

Vince Clarke

Andy Bell Interview In Passport Magazine

Andy has been interviewed about his travel experiences for the Passport Magazine website. It's very loosely an interview about 'Total Pop!' (which does get a brief mention!), but it mostly about Andy's travel experiences and includes a number of his top travel tips. Another one that's worth a read when you have a moment!

Erasure.Club - Tracklisting Change

Unfortunately due to legal clearance issues Mute are unable to include the Winnie Cooper Mix of Who Needs Love (Like That) on the forthcoming Erasure.Club EP due on August 10th however the release will still feature the other six remixes as planned. You can see the updated tracklisting in the news section at ErasureInfo.com.

Erasure Fan Survey - The Results

Lots of people have asked me what sort of results the recent Fan Survey came up with so I thought it might be interesting to share the results with you all. If you remember, the survey was set up to find out what you all consider most the important elements to include in future special edition album releases.

So what did you want to see? A staggering number of participants (over 90% in fact) said they would be interested in seeing Unreleased & Archive Material featured on any deluxe album editions, making that the runaway favourite across the poll results. The inclusion of DVD & Visual Elements came in second, followed by New Remixes then Deluxe Packaging in third and fourth place and 5:1 Audio bringing up the rear. Interesting stuff I think, I know Mute were very interested to hear the results and to read all your comments, and thank you again to everyone who took part in the survey!

Searching For The Innocents... An Erasure Blog

You may remember from my last newsletter that in the lead-up to the 21st anniversary release of The Innocents I have set myself the task of tracking down and interviewing everyone who worked on the original album, and recording the process via a dedicated blog. The story is continuing in the new Blog section at ErasureInfo.com and many thanks to everyone who has been in touch to tell me how much they are enjoying my efforts!

Have a great weekend!

Cheers

Frankmusik Remixed Erasure

FrankmusikYoung electro-pop sensation Vincent Frank, better known as Frankmusik has recently remixed an Erasure track from "The Innocents" album - "Phantom Bride". He mentioned about it at his Twitter blog:

"Gonna have a bath and go to bed nice and early for a change! Had such a nice day! Erasure remix sounds fresh to death."

Short snippet from this mix has been uploaded to Frankmusik MySpace site, but then disappeared. Nevertheless, you can download it here.

Other mixing credits for Frankmusik, among others are Pet Shop Boys' "Love Etc." and Mika's "Relax".

Vince Clarke's "Deeptronica"

The new 15-track Vince Clarke produced tracks entitled "Deeptronica" are available for listen at www.extrememusic.com which seems to be aome kind of online music library.

Vince Clarke - "Deeptronica"

Go to www.extrememusic.com than click on "Get Trax", then on "X-Series", then on "Composer" and then find Vince Clarke on the list. Click on it and you'll get the list of new Vince's instrumental tracks. Each track is available for listen.

No official news about this tracks has been revealed so far, but it seems that all the above tracks were recorded in new Vince's studio, The Cabin.

They are definitely worth to listen, as they are represent the new 'darker' direction, mentioned by Vince in his recent interviews.

Andy Bell Interview In Passport Magazine

Andy has been interviewed about his travel experiences for the Passport Magazine website. It's very loosely an interview about 'Total Pop!' which gets a brief mention, but it mostly about Andy's travel experiences and includes a number of his top travel tips!

"...I have a drag queen friend there, he’s quite old, named Mister Pussy. He used to have a café and U2 would go there. He got busted because he was serving alcohol in teapots after hours."

EIS Newsletter:

Hello

Thank you to everyone who responded to my request for your stories, anecdotes and interview questions in last week's newsletter. I ended up with hundreds which I collated and sent over to Mute this week to be considered for inclusion in the booklet to accompany the forthcoming 21st Anniversary edition of The Innocents.

In my newsletter a couple of weeks ago I hinted that there were all sorts of Erasure plans being made behind the scenes at Mute and it was very exciting to then announce the 21st Anniversary edition of The Innocents a couple of weeks ago.

It's equally exciting this week to be able to announce two more releases from the Erasure catalogue, plus share the details of a rather ambitious project I have set myself in the run up to The Innocents reissue! Here goes...

Classic Erasure Club Mixes To Be Released In August

In 1990 Erasure released three promotional singles on 12" vinyl, the records were sent to DJs to be played in clubs and were never made commercially available, until now...

On August 10th Mute Records will release remastered versions of all seven club mixes featured across the three original vinyl singles compiled onto a special EP which will be available on CD and download.

See the News section on ErasureInfo.com for the full tracklisting and all the details I have so far. Details of a SPECIAL pre-order to follow shortly...

Tracklisting:

1. Push Me Shove Me (Moonbeam Mix) 6:22
2. Push Me Shove Me (Catatonic Mix) 4:14
3. Senseless (Avalon Mix) 6:30
4. Ship Of Fools (Orbital Southsea Isles Of Holy Beats Mix) 9:43
5. Who Needs Love (Like That) (Winnie Cooper Mix) 8:13
6. Sometimes (Danny Rampling Mix) 6:13
7. Weight Of The World (Heavy 'B' Mix) 5:12

ABBA-Esque Remixes To Be Reissued As Download Bundle

On August 10th Mute Records will also make the classic Erasure Abba-esque remixes available again in a special download bundle. The bundle will feature the four remixes originally released on CD and 12" Vinyl in 1992.

See the News section on ErasureInfo.com for the full tracklisting and all the details I have so far.

Tracklisting:

1. Voulez Vous (Brain Stem Death Test Mix) 5:46
2. Lay All Your Love On Me (No Panties Mix) 5:10
3. Take A Chance On Me (Take A Trance On Me Mix) 13:24
4. SOS (Perimeter Mix) 5:17

Searching For The Innocents... An Erasure Blog

To mark the forthcoming 21st Anniversary reissue of The Innocents, one of my own favourite records ever, I have set myself the task of tracking down and interviewing everyone who worked on the original record, and recording the process via a dedicated blog. It might end up being an impossible task but I think it could be an interesting one and if all goes well it will bring all sorts of new perspectives on what is perhaps the most important, certainly the most successful, album of Erasure's career to date.

You can keep an eye on my progress in the new Blog section at ErasureInfo.com.

Have a great week!

Cheers

Richard
