¨ New Single Out Next Week (UK / Europe)

Yes the much anticipated third single from Nightbird - 'Here I Go Impossible Again / All This Time Still Falling Out Of Love' is released next week in stores (20th June) for those in the UK and Europe.

¨ Exclusive Digital Download - Shanghai Surprize Radio Edit

Also available from next week will be the *exclusive* Shanghai Surprize Radio Edit of 'All This Time Still Falling Out Of Love'.

This unique mix is *only* going to be made available as a digital download - and at only 69-79p* you can't go wrong really!

The EIS homepage will be updated on Monday with direct links to music download stores.

All available from next will be digital download versions of the mixes featured on the physical CD / DVD singles - more details Monday.

Important bit:

In the UK, the singles chart now combine the sales of physical and download singles sales.

Why am I telling you this? Well...

There are large number of music download stores available and each have different policies as to when new releases are added, e.g. iTunes tend to add new releases on Tuesdays. These differing policies mean it's impossible to predict *exactly* when a download will be available - it could be a few days before or after the 'official' release date.

With that in mind it would be really beneficial if any digital downloads were purchased in the first week of release (from the 20th June) rather than before this date so that the sales count towards the first week of the singles chart.

The record deal for Andy's forthcoming solo album is close to being finalised.

The first single from the album is to be called 'Crazy' and will feature a mix by Vince Clarke.

¨ Capital Pride Lifetime Achievement Award

Erasure received a special Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts from gay organization Capital Pride. The award was presented to Erasure at their concert at the 9:30 Club (Washington) on Tuesday, June 7.

“For the last 20 years, Erasure has not only been a favorite of the GLBT community, they have been ardent supporters of GLBT rights around the world,” Robert York, director of Capital Pride, said. “Andy Bell’s brave stance as an openly gay man in the 1980s inspired countless other GLBT people to come out of the closet. His recent openness about his HIV status has refocused attention on the continuing HIV epidemic. And Vince Clarke has been a steadfast straight ally, supportive of both Andy and the band’s GLBT fan base. We are proud to present them with this award.”

US newspaper "New York Post" have published a list titled "25 Songs You Should Download Now - The Best Tracks of 2005 (so far)". Erasure's song "I'll Be There" from "Nightbird" in it (thanks to MikeyC for the info).

¨ Performing At Fashion Cares Event

Erasure performed at the Fashion Cares event in Toronto just after their gig at the Massey Hall 4th June. They sung six songs: "Drama!", "Sometimes", "A Little Respect", "Chains Of Love", "Oh L'Amour" and "Breathe". Here is a photo of Andy performing on stage.

¨ Larry Tee And Andy Bell

More details revealed about forthcoming Larry Tee album and his collaboration with Andy Bell. From the recent interview with Larry Tee:

"Then there is a song called Matthew, about Matthew Shepard, the gay boy in the Midwest that was killed. Andy Bell from Erasure sang that. It's huge! All the biggest remixers in the world are doing mixes right now."

Erasure.ru have known that the name of the song seem to be "Matthew's Day" and one of the mixes was made by japanese DJ Mondo Grosso.

¨ Vince Clarke Songwriting Sampler

One of the well-known online record shops is currently selling "Vince Clarke Songwriting Sampler" (US Sony/ATV Music Publishing 11-track official CD-R acetate featuring six Erasure tracks, three Yazoo tracks and two Depeche Mode tracks).

The exclusivity of this CD-R is that it includes three Erasure acoustic tracks not available anywhere else. It seems that this acoustic tracks are taken from the forthcoming Erasure "country and vestern" album. Tracklist of this CD-R is as follows:

¨ Lifetime Achievement Award

Erasure will be given a Lifetime Achievement Award in The Arts, by the prestigious Washington D.C. gay organization Capital Pride.

The award will be given to Andy Bell and Vince Clarke onstage on June 7 at the 9:30 club. The Awards Recognize Outstanding Service in Advocacy, Family, Health, Arts and Community Service.

¨ Fashion Cares Benefit

Erasure are giving a special performance as headliners of the Fashion Cares benefit event in Toronto on Saturday, June 4 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre with host MAC Viva Glam spokesperson Pamela Anderson.

The entertainment portion of the show includes a Fashion Show with runway, dancers, and live performers starting at 10:30 pm, immediately following their Massey Hall show.

The theme for this year is "Bollywood Cowboy". Fashion Cares is an AIDS charity, celebrating its 19th year and donating all proceeds for this event to the AIDS Committee of Toronto.

¨ Washington DC In-store Signing

Erasure will be doing an in-store autograph signing on Tues 7th June at 1pm, Tower Records, Washington DC.

The signing session with Erasure will occur between 1 to 3 pm ONLY. They will be signing their new CD, Nightbird and ONE additional piece of memorabilia ONLY. Line up will begin at 11am on the day of the event, outside the 21st Street entrance.

From the 10th June, the EIS Forum will not be accepting new members. This is a temporary measure and will only be for a few weeks.

¨ UK Club Reactions Of The New Single

You may have noticed that the Releases section of the website includes details of club promos for the newer releases.

These are (not surprisingly!) sent to club DJ's, and Mute receive feedback from these DJ's. So what was the general vibe with regards to the new single club promo? Well the feedback has been overwhelming positive, particularly with the Shanghai Surprize Club Mix.
