"Ask Mute" Feature

The dormant "Ask Erasure" web site feature will shortly start up again, but before that happens, how about an "Ask Mute" feature?

This is your opportunity to send in questions for Erasure's record label "Mute" to answer. So if you've wanted to ask how mixes are commissioned, or what process occurs when a song is picked to be a single, well now is your chance. Just reply to this newsletter with your question(s) plus your full name, and a selection will be answered and published on the web site in a couple of weeks.

"Light At The End Of The World" Mini Torches

New shop item now available - an extremely limited number of "Light At The End Of The World" mini torches - complete with batteries. Strictly limited to no more than two per customer.

Web Site Update - Video Story Board

I published this on the web site a while back, but forgot to tell anyone. The story board for the original video for "I Could Fall In Love With You" (the "fantasy supermarket" one) can be seen here:

Komputer Single

For those with (fairly) long memories of Erasure tours, you may recall that the band "Komputer" were the support act for Erasure during their 1996 tour.

Well Komputer have a new single out on the 18th June and there is a free download of one of the mixes via their MySpace page:

Greg EIS - "A Shiny Shoe":

-- Apologies if you've recieved this newsletter twice - the mailing software crashed whilst sending the newsletter out on Friday, which also resulted in the loss of database updates such as changes to email addresses or unsubscribe requests - so please send such change / remove requests again. --

Hello

I'm sure you guys don't need reminding that "Light At The End Of The World" is out this week.

Feel free to add your reviews within the "Light At The End Of The World - Fan Reviews" thread on the forum:

www: http://www.erasureforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=10709

iTunes - "Light At The End Of The World"

After some initial technical issues, the new album is now available on iTunes in the US:

iTunes: http://phobos.apple.com...

As for the availability of the new album via iTunes UK (and other regions) - technical issues resulted in it's withdrawal from the store - it will appear the next time iTunes refresh the store database, so should be available from next week at the latest.

Other related digital news - the album is currently "MSN Music Album Of The Week" - on the MSN Music UK digital store and they have this to say:

MSN music album of the week"They've had a go at country music, cover versions and even dabbled with acoustic guitars in recent times but nothing beats a bit of good old fashioned hi-nrg electro pop from Erasure. Light At The End Of The World is certainly a return to the boy's pure synth pop heyday with big old choruses and sparkly electronics ago-go.

Tracks like How My Eyes Adore You and I Could Fall In Love With You certainly up both the pace and the theatricality factor, while Andy's recent break as a solo artist has obviously improved his lyric writing skills. Probably the duo's most positive and unadulterated fun record since Wild."

Not bad, not bad at all!

Greg EIS - "Light At The End Of The World":

Lots of stuff happening next week, but most importantly...

"Light At The End Of The World" Album - Released Next Week!

Album "Light At The End Of The World"At last the beautiful new Erasure album "Light At The End Of The World" will be released next week.

Rather than me go on about how good it is - let me quote a short passage from a recent review of the album:

"Just a few seconds into opening track 'Sunday Girl', you are expectant. Opening like the old Smash advert, Vince's eastern-sounding keyboards kick in and we're away on an epic three minute pop journey. And what pop it is. This is wet-your-pants Cristiano Ronaldo in glitterpants dazzling all-comers premiership champions pop. It's the sort of song pop stars used to write - Abba would've had a number one for 12 weeks with this and it would have packed every dancefloor from North to South. It might just be the greatest song they've ever recorded."

Quote taken from: "Collective" - The Interactive Culture Magazine

www: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/collective/A22137284

The album is also CD of the week in the Mirror national newspaper, with a rating of 4/5

www: http://www.mirror.co.uk...

Both the 10 song (standard edition) and 12 song (limited edition) versions of the album should be available from the usual large music retailers. It will also be available via digital download stores such as iTunes.

A "Light At The End Of The World" e-card is available for you to send to friends etc, and it includes audio clips from the album:

Saturday 19th May - G-A-Y Performance At The Astoria

A reminder that this Saturday Erasure will be appearing at G-A-Y at the London Astoria as special guests of Joan Rivers, performing a mixture of new and classic songs.

Tickets are available in advance at the G-A-Y bar (30 Old Compton Street). The band are due on stage at approx 1.15am

Bar: http://www.g-a-y.co.uk/bar.asp
Club: http://www.g-a-y.co.uk/eventdetail.asp?ID=614

HMV Instore Signings

Also next week is the instore signings and *live performance* (again classic and new songs) at two HMV stores:

Monday 21st May 6.00pm - HMV 150 Oxford Street, London W1D 1DJ
6.00pm √ Live Performance
6.30pm √ Album Signing

400 wristbands will be given out from the store from 9.00am on the 21st May on a strictly "first come first served" basis, one per person only, while stocks last.

Erasure are due to appear at 6.00pm, where they will be performing live and then will be available to sign copies of their new album "Light At The End Of The World" purchased from the store. All fans will be able to watch the performance but only those with the bands will be able to go to the signing afterwards.

Tuesday 22nd May 5.00pm - HMV 38 High Street, Birmingham B4 7SL
5.00pm √ Live Performance
5.30pm √ Album Signing

The Birmingham event is very similar to the London one, i.e a live performance + signing copies of the new album purchased from the store. However there will be no wristband allocation, so it is advised that you arrive early as space at the store is extremely limited and the number of people allowed in will be strictly controlled.

Would love to see your photos from the G-A-Y and HMV events - post them on the forum or email them to me so they can be added to the gallery.

Photos & Video Clips (For Plasma Screens Etc)

Many, many thanks for all the photos / clips that you have sent in for possible use on the "Light At The End Of The World" tour.

At the time of writing just over 750 images have been received, which is a truly fantastic result - so thank you again. I've never seen so many imaginative uses of aluminium foil!

All the images / clips (where consent forms have been received) have been passed onto the production company who are creating the visual montage.

If you are a member of the Erasure forum and have submitted a picture, why not change your forum avatar to match one of the pictures that you've sent in, so maybe we could recognise you if your picture is used? (Please remember that the forum has no minimum age requirement, so some of the pictures received *really* would not be suitable for display on the forum.)

Tues 22nd May - Album Release Party

Greg EIS - "Additional Erasure Tour Dates (Part I)" [09.05.07]:

Hello

Erasure - Additional Tour Dates - Part I

Right, this is going to be a bit tricky...

Basically there are quite a few (actually a lot) of Erasure tour dates (Germany, North America etc) that are in the final stages of being finalised, but are not yet at a stage where they can be publicly announced.

With each region having different promoters, it is unlikely that there will be one big announcement of all the outstanding dates, as each will generally be confirmed at different times. Therefore to prevent 1,000's of emails being sent out (and getting blocked by various filters) the web site will be updated when each date is confirmed, and a newsletter sent out with a summary of the dates later.

What I can announce so far is the first set of North American Erasure tour dates:

6th July 2007: Tampa (Florida)
Carol Morsani Hall, 1010 North W.C. MacInnes Place, Tampa, Florida
www: http://www.tbpac.org/welcome/venues/morsani.html

7th July 2007: Miami (Florida)
James L Knight Center, 400 SE Second Ave, Miami, Florida
www: http://www.jlkc.com/

8th July 2007: Orlando (Florida)
Orlando Hard Rock Live, 6050 Universal Blvd, Orlando, Florida
www: http://www.hardrock.com/live2/live.asp

Tickets will be on sale to the general public on Friday 11th May via Ticketmaster:

Hi guys

Sorry for all the newsletters, however it's a busy time and that means quite a few e-mails - and your assistance is required!

Photos & Video Clips Required For Live Show

The stage set for the forthcoming Erasure tour will feature a number of plasma screens on stage plus a LED screen backdrop. Displayed on these screens will be a montage of various images and video clips, so this is where you come in!

As part of the range of clips to be shown, we would like to feature photos / video clips of yourselves in one (or more) of the following categories:

- Waist up and head shots -

1) Range of Emotions, e.g. happy, sad, surprised, crying etc.
2) Memories At Erasure Concerts, e.g. before, after or during Erasure gigs.

- Full body shots and, or waist up and head shots -

4) Beautiful Freaks on Earth Look, e.g. John Waters, Divine, camp, fetish, punk, street tranny, drag feminine, drag with facial hair etc.

The examples are just guidelines - so feel free to make your own personal interpretations!

As the photos / videos will be manipulated etc, it would be ideal if they could be well light and preferably have a plain background to assist with the editing process.

- Technical Specifications -

Any photo image format is OK (from mobile phones images up to hi-res pro images). Video resolutions should be a minimum of 640x480 pixels up to HD standards.

Photos can be emailed in to the following e-mail address: live@erasureinfo.com

- Consent Form -

As it is likely that one of the live shows will be recorded for a potential DVD release, you will need to download and sign the following consent form for anything that you send in:

Consent Form: http://www.erasureinfo.com/news/gfx/live_release_form.pdf

You can print off the form and send it via the post, or scan it and email it in.

Greg EIS - "Be My Escape":

Hi

True Colors Tour - Additional Date

An additional date has been announced for the True Colors Tour:

13th June - Columbus Schottenstein Center

555 Borror Drive, Columbus, OH 43210

Tickets are available from Ticketmaster or may be ordered by phone at (614)292-2624 or (800) GO-BUCKS.

"Light At The End Of The World" Packaging

The ltd edition version of the new album "Light At The End Of The World" (which features twelve songs) will be in digipack packaging.

To wet your appetite for the beautiful artwork it contains, some small pictures of the packaging and the booklet can be seen within the News section.

www: http://www.erasureinfo.com/news/

Note: The ten song edition of the album will be packaged in a standard CD jewel case.

Both versions of the album can be pre-ordered from many stores, including "Best Buy", "Amazon" (who seem to have the track listings the wrong way around at the moment), HMV, Virgin Megastore and of course Mute Bank.

Speaking of which, I made a mistake with the track listing for the Japanese track listing of "Light At The End Of The World" - it will contain the alternative "kissing" video rather than the original "shopping mall" video for "I Could Fall In Love With You". Apologies for that - that's what happens when one read e-mails in the wrong order!

To (slightly) make up for it - here's a link (not published on the EIS web site yet) to one of my favourite Erasure press photos:

I feel a caption competition coming on! Will do one next week.

"Light At The End Of The World" Album Reviews

Album "Light At The End Of The World""Erasure prove that synth music has a place in the top ranks of classiness, and this album deserves a good placing in the charts, because whilst it will still appeal to the long-time fans, it's so enjoyable it should gain them a whole new legion of fans."

[Digital Spy]: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a46017/erasure...

"Erasure have this amazing ability to tap into a vein of double edged pop that's both riotously euphoric and terribly sad...against the odds Erasure are still as relevant as the rest of the current crop of electro-pop bands."

[Gay Times]

Important Newsletter Next Week

In a similar vein to last time I wrote this - if you cross your fingers (and thumbs) and think happy thoughts, then hopefully there should be an important newsletter arriving in your inboxes next week, so keep an eye out for it (i.e check spam folders etc.)

Quick Message From Andy

Andy BellYou may or may not know that the EIS runs the official Erasure MySpace presence as well as the web site / forum / mailing list.

Whereas the EIS web site tends to receive specific queries (regarding tour dates etc), the Erasure MySpace site tends to receive personal messages intended for the band.

These messages are collated every so often and e-mailed onto the band, and the latest batch of messages regarding the new single / album / tour etc prompted Andy to e-mail this message which I thought I'd pass on:

"God I'm a bit gob-smacked with all the lovely comments, makes it all worthwhile Thank you to everybody XX" [Andy]
