¨ GLAAD Awards

Erasure performed live at the GLAAD Awards in New York on the 27th March. They sung "Boy" and "A Little Respect". GLAAD Awards is a ceremony recognizing mainstream media for fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

"Brokeback Mountain" taken the top film prize while the other winners at the GLAAD Awards included "Newsweek" for magazine reporting; "The Oprah Winfrey Show" for an episode focused on gay people's coming-out stories; "USA Today" for newspaper coverage; and Melissa Etheridge for best music artist.

Presenters, performers and guests at the event included Ang Lee, Michael Douglas, Sandra Bernhard, the pop band Erasure, and Czech model Petra Nemcova, who presented an award for photographer David LaChapelle.

The GLAAD Media Awards will be televised on Logo, MTV Networks' cable channel for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender viewers and their allies. This year, VH1 will air the program for the first time. The Logo airdate for the GLAAD Media Awards is April 15, 2006 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT). The VH1 airdate is April 16 at 11 p.m. (ET/PT).

¨ GLAAD Event 27th March 2007

Erasure will be performing at the forthcoming GLAAD Awards event in New York on the 27th March 2007. GLAAD is the leading gay rights anti-defamation organization in America.

A two song performance from Erasure is expected, 'Boy' and another hit.

The event is being taped and will be broadcast on the US MTV channels VH-1 and Logo in mid-April.

Andy Bell releases a new single via Sanctuary Records on 22nd May 2006.

'I'll Never Fall In Love Again' is taken from the Erasure frontman's debut solo album 'Electric Blue', which was released in October 2005.

The single comes with a variety of new mixes from Goetz (Sugababes, Faithless), plus Jaded Alliance & Mr Do. 'Electric Blue', an album highlight, as well as the title track, has also been completely recrafted by MHC, who turn in a darker club mix destined for the world's electro dancefloors in coming months.

The package is completed with two brand new bonus tracks 'Back Into The Old Routine' and 'Jump'. Exact formats to be confirmed shortly.

Andy Bell has spent the last few months promoting 'Electric Blue' across Europe & America, and also played his first live gigs in Russia, including two sold-out shows in Moscow & St Petersburg.

'Electric Blue' is currently enjoying considerable success in the US, where the album reached #1 in the i-Tunes Dance Chart. The first single from the album 'Crazy' also spent over four months in the Billboard Dance Chart, peaking at #3.

¨ Potential US Fan Nashville Show Travel Package

Due to the overwhelming demand for tickets for the US Erasure Acoustic show dates, the tour promoters are investigating the possibility of offering US Erasure fans a package deal to see the Nashville performance.

The Nashville show kicks off the North American leg of the tour, and those attending will be amongst the first to see Erasure's first ever full band acoustic performance in the US!

The Ryman Auditorium was home to The Grand Ole Opry for 30 years, and artists as diverse as Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Hank Williams to Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks have played there.

This package deal will comprise of travel (say bus or plane) from Chicago, Atlanta, NYC etc, plus hotel and an extra (maybe a meet & greet with the band) for a set price (exact price to be determined, but it will certainly be a reasonable one.)

Now for this idea to work, it is critical that an accurate picture can be built up of the level of demand for this, plus the locations of where people would potentially be travelling from.

¨ Erasure Acoustic: UK Support Act (EIS News)

News from EIS website.

The support act for the UK part of the Erasure Acoustic tour will be Ciaran McFeely (aka 'Simple Kid').

Simple Kid is an Irish born solo musical artist known for his trancey/synth sound. His style of remixing and sampling has been compared to Fatboy Slim, although Simple Kid uses his own recordings as sources.

Simple Kid's sound is difficult to place, but could be best described as folk trance-pop with an edge.

Although having spent considerable time in America before becoming Simple Kid, his popularity today is mostly limited to the United Kingdom. He has most recently supported Richard Ashcroft during his current solo tour (early 2006). Previously, Simple Kid has toured with such acts as Travis, The Thrills, Ocean Colour Scene and Suede.

¨ "Erasure Acoustic" Tour - The Band

Erasure's acoustic tour begins 14th April in Edinburgh (UK). This time Andy and Vince, for the first time ever, will be performing live on tour with a band of musicians!

The band will feature Smith Curry on pedal steel, dobro and banjo, Richard Hammond on acoustic bass, Ben Wittman on percussion, Jill Walsh and Valerie Chalmers on backing vocals, Steve Walsh on guitar and mandolin, and of course Andy Bell and Vince Clarke.

There is a cool blurb about Erasure in the new issue of Billboard magazine. Among some interesting tidbits, it said that Mute is actually going to service country radio (in the US) with "Boy", and it also hinted that the Nashville concert will be recorded and released on DVD!
