Russian magazine "OM" has published a review of "Nightbird" in its latest issue (# 91 March 2005).

¨ New Interview With Andy

PlanetOut website has published the new interview with Andy in which he reveals some interesting facts and also discusses about Boy George, Elton John, George Michael and Eminem. Here are several interesting snippets:

"Q: You've been doing this for a couple of decades now. Do you ever feel that if you sing, for instance, "A Little Respect" one more time you'll go mad?

A: It feels a little bit like that, because you know the whole list of songs by heart. We've got 24 songs, and then six extra ones to make it more interesting for us - especially for New York, where we're doing 10 shows. Lots of people come to all the shows, so we do this so it's not so boring for them as well.

Q: Your queer pop-star peers [Boy George, Elton John, George Michael] have a high-profile feud going on. How have you managed to stay out of the fray?

A: We've never been part of their clique; they've never included us. I don't know - maybe they're scared of us. We never get invited to their dinners or their parties.

Q: A problem Boy George has with Elton John is that Sir Elton performed with Eminem at The Grammys. How do you feel about it?

A: Oh, I think it's fine. You just really have to have a good sense of humor. If Eminem asked me to perform with him I would do so. I think it's a really good thing if enemies can get together.

Q: Speaking of working with other artists, there's word that you're going to be working with Scissor Sisters on a single.

A: I've just completed a solo album, which hopefully will be out by the end of this year. I sent a song to [Scissor Sisters front man] Jake Shears, which he really loved, and he said he wants to do it. We're looking to find some studio time while I'm in New York, so we can get it together.

I think the song will be called "I Thought It Was You," but I'm not sure.

Q: Any words of wisdom you want to share with your young fans?

A: You don't have to belong to any peer group whatsoever. You are you, and you don't have to be anybody you don't want to be. [Laughs] But it would be nice if you were an Erasure fan."

During Portsmouth gig 13th March Andy had revealed that they will be performing "Phantom Bride" on the german shows. They rehearsed it and it's ready (thanks to 88state for the info).

Several reports about Manchester show 9th March. The show had started from unreleased song "Rock A Bye Baby". Andy introduced "Rapture" one song too early and Vince's laptop crashes in the first bridge of "Ship Of Fools" so it was performed with just an acoustic guitar. Set list of the gig was as follows:

March 4, 2005 (New York, NY) - Mute North America proudly announces two Mute artists have reached # 1 this week: M83 on the CMJ Core Chart and Erasure on the Billboard Club DJ Play Chart.

"Breathe", the first single off of Erasure's new album, "Nightbird" has been steadily moving up the Billboard Club DJ Play Chart for 9 weeks before reaching # 1. The Billboard Club DJ Panel is comprised of 145 DJs from across the US that represent a sample of the most popular genres of dance music played in clubs - house, progressive/tribal, alternative, r&b, high energy and more. When a record goes # 1 on the Billboard Club DJ Chart, it takes a least 100 DJs (over 70% of the panel) charting it, and therefore it has to appeal to most dance formats represented. This chart will be published in the Billboard issue dating March 19, 2005. "Breathe" was # 1 for 3 weeks on the Billboard Top Dance Single Sales Chart.

1) Either buy the double CD at the venue that is being recorded *OR*
2) You make order the double CD *online* and it will be sent to you via the post.
3) You also have the option of purchasing a digital download version at the website.
4) The CD's *are* strictly limited in number - only 500 will be made available at the venues being recorded, and a further 500 have been allocated for orders submitted via the website.

Thought you might like to know that there *are* plans for one of the forthcoming 'The Erasure Show' performances to be filmed.

As always with these things, an actual DVD release will depend upon the quality of the footage, approval by the band etc.

¨ "Don't Say You Love Me" Is Single Of The Week

"Don't Say You Love Me" is single of the week of UK radio station 106 Century FM. In addition 106 Century FM is hosting an exclusive Erasure gig in Leicester. Erasure will play an intimate and exclusive gig for just 200 people. Andy Bell and Vince Clarke will perform at Sumo, in Braunstone Gate, on Tuesday night. Erasure fan club members and Century 106 listeners will take most of the tickets.

At the Newcastle gig (3rd March) "Don't Say You Love Me" was dropped out from setlist. Also during the brief meet Andy explained why "Fingers & Thumbs (Cold Summer's Day)" and "Phantom Bride" are not being performing. He said that "not many people heard "Fingers & Thumbs", "Phantom Bride" was programmed for a later date maybe." (thanks to sue for the info)

¨ Elkland To Support Erasure In USA

Elkland, the groundbreaking new "synthpop" quartet from New York, has landed the coveted opening slot on the hotly-anticipated Erasure tour, including sold-out multi-night runs in New York and Los Angeles. News of Elkland’s appearances on "The Erasure Show" comes on the heels of the announcement that the band’s debut album, "Golden", will arrive in stores on Tuesday, April 19.

With "Golden", the members of Elkland have taken the group’s collective deep love, and passionate understanding, of classic post-punk synthpop and Britpop from Joy Division and The Smiths to New Order and Bjork - to create a hook-dappled blueprint for a harmonious shimmering synthpop of tomorrow using authentic old school synthesizers and drum machines that the band has collected over the years.
