EIS Newsletter:

Sziasztok

I've been getting loads of emails from people asking why Andy released 'Running Out' and 'Will You Be There?' under the name Mimó instead of using his own name so I thought I could save myself a lot of time if I answered that one here...

The idea behind the Mimó pseudonym for the first couple of tracks was basically for Andy to have a bit of fun, to see how people reacted to his new music without knowing who it came from and without all the preconceptions that people attach to anything that involves 'Andy Bell from Erasure'!

I should also mention that, as a result, 'Will You Be There?' in particular has received lots of specialist dance plays all over the place, including on Radio 1 and KISS in the UK. The next single and the album however will come out under Andy's name and I hope to have news on both of those releases very soon!

Erasure Album Update!

Vince and Andy are getting together in London this week to continue work on the new album and have promised that they will be Twittering regularly from the studio. You can follow their progress on Erasure's Twitter page, and all the Tweets will also be appearing on the Erasure Facebook page.

"Get Set" - An Unreleased Yazoo Song

Back in 1983 Yazoo (Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet) recorded the theme song for BBC1 TV show "Get Set For Summer". The song did not get into Yazoo albums and remained unreleased. The "restored by Matt" version of "Get Set" is now available to listen and download in rather decent quality. Thanks to Matt!

EIS Newsletter:

Halløjsa!

Thank you so much for all your support on 'Will You Be There?', the reaction to Andy's new material under the Mimó name has been absolutely brilliant.

I have combined the Erasure and Andy Bell lists for this newsletter so that whether you're signed up to either one of the lists, or both (and I know a lot of you are!), then instead of your inbox filling up with the same information in several different emails you'll only receive it once... I know, I know, I'm just so good to you! :-)

Andy Bell Solo Single 'Will You Be There?' Out Now

You can still listen to 'Will You Be There?' on Andy's website (the Seamus Haji mix is proving to be particularly popular!), and of course it is available to download from the usual outlets in the UK and around Europe. To answer a couple of recurring questions following my last newsletter; The US release of 'Will You be There?' will be in March, and the single is a download release only and isn't available on CD.

5. Will You Be There? (Seamus Haji Big Love Remix Edit)

More Mimó Music!

I didn't mention this last week because I didn't want to overwhelm you with Andy Bell news and I wanted to focus on the release of 'Will You be There?', however 'Will You be There?' is actually the second release under the Mimó name, the first - entitled 'Running Out' - was released last year, mainly for clubs and media, and is also available to download via the usual online shops (including iTunes in the USA!). You can have an advance listen at Andy's website...

Mimo "Running Out"

1. Running Out
2. Running Out (Fenech-Soler Remix)

Andy Bell Competition

Last week I announced a competition that would see three winners each receive a special bundle of left over 'Electric Blue' bits and pieces and I'm very pleased to announce that the three winners - selected randomly from everyone signed up for the Andy Bell email list - are Seth Sternberger (USA), Susan Hesketh (UK) and Michael Butler (Australia). Congratulations to the three of you, I have sent emails to you with all the details of how to claim your prizes!

Alison Moyet UK Dates

Alison MoyetI also added approximately a million Alison Moyet dates to the Yazoo website this week (well, perhaps not a million but it's a LOT of shows!)... she's supporting Jools Holland and the tour goes pretty much everywhere in the UK if you fancy popping along to have a look. She is brilliant live and there's usually one or two Yazoo songs in the set!

Thank you to Carsten and Yngve who got in touch after last week's newsletter to say that the Danish greeting I used then - 'Det' - is not a greeting in common use in Denmark and suggesting a range of alternatives. To make up for that I'm using Danish again for the start and the end of this newsletter and I have chosen 'Halløjsa' as the greeting this week, mostly because it looks very Danish!

Farvel!

EIS Newsletter:

Det!

Today the veil of secrecy is lifted and I am very excited to be able to announce that Andy Bell's new single 'Will You Be There?' - released under the name of Mimó - is released in the UK this week (and in March in the USA)! I know that this is news that lots of you have been waiting patiently for (or perhaps, in some cases, rather impatiently... you know who you are!) so it's brilliant to be able to let the cat out of the bag at last!

Here you go...

Andy Bell Solo Single 'Will You Be There?' Released This Week!

Produced by pop maestro Pascal Gabriel (Dido, Kylie, Ladyhawke) and capturing the essence of the dance floor classics and unforgettable pop anthems that made his name, 'Will You Be There?' includes remixes by Seamus Haji, Sonic C and French Horn Rebellion, which push the boundaries of club classics. But don't take my word for it, you can have a listen for yourself at Andy's website. The single is available to download from all good online retailers including iTunes UK, Amazon UK and Play.com.

Mimo "Will You Be There?"

Why all the secrecy up until now? Well, Andy was keen to release his new solo material under a pseudonym and chose the name Mimó as a tribute to his friend Tomeau Mimó. Sadly however there is already a musician working as Mimo who has legally challenged Andy's right to use a variation of that name for this project, so from this point forwards all further releases will be come out under Andy's own name. More news about Andy's album very soon!

Each watch is a limited edition of one and each features album artwork from one of Depeche Mode's twelve studio albums. The watches are packaged in special boxes that include a photograph signed by all the members of the group who contributed to that album, which - in the case of the 'Speak & Spell' package - includes Vince Clarke. See Vince's website for more details.

25 Years Of Erasure Guestbook

Sherry, who runs one of the unofficial Erasure forums, has set up a page to collect messages for Vince and Andy to congratulate them on 25 years since the release of their first single. If you fancy contributing then you need to head on over to Sherry's website.

Andy Bell Competition Draw

With Andy's new solo project upon us this seemed like a good time to clear out the Electric Blue cupboard and run a quick draw that will see THREE winners each receive a bundle of bits and pieces from the Electric Blue project including some items autographed by Andy! The draw will take place on February 17th and the winners will be selected at random from the names signed up for the Andy Bell mailing list, so if you're not already subscribed for the Andy Bell newsletter then you need to get yourself signed up now. If you are already on the list then all you need to do it sit back and keep your fingers crossed!

Andy Bell bundle

Oh, and thank you to everyone who emailed me to say that they DID like Jody Watley's cover of 'A Little Respect', you have managed to balance the opinions nicely however to avoid it turning into a war of words I am consigning that one to history as of right now, let us never speak of it again!

This week's newsletter greeting and farewell are in Danish courtesy of Dennis, thanks Dennis.

Farvel!
