Greg EIS - "The Colours Are Melting":

Hello

Some further details of the new single this week.

"I Could Fall In Love With You" Track Listings

First a few words from Mr Vince Clarke:

"I Could Fall In Love With You" cd single"This is one of the few songs that existed in part before the Maine hotel room writing sessions.

Before we started this album, I was really keen for it not to be mid-tempo - I'm having a mid-tempo crisis! Our albums seem to have got slower and slower, so I started searching for classic funk or disco baselines, put some ideas together with chord changes and baselines underneath, and emailed them to Andy for him to sing over the top.

The song, like this album, is quite 'up' and up tempo because we're both in good spaces right now."

Fan Mixes - Technical Problems

Sorry for the technical problems that prevented the newly added fan mixes from working last week - this has now been sorted and they are working fine now.

And It's Goodbye From 429 Harrow Road

429 Harrow Road, LondonWithin a few weeks, the EIS will be leaving its home for many years, 429 Harrow Road London. This building has seen three EIS Managers (Janet, Jonny and myself) in its time, with an office shared (until late last year) with the delightful people from Mute Bank mail order.

As I compose this newsletter, cardboard boxes are being sealed, files are being packed away and interesting items are being discovered in dark and dingy areas (such as blue translucent 12" vinyl test pressings of "Oh L'Amour" - expect a giveaway competition soon!). I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with Vince's inflatable kayak, but at least he took back his red dress.

So what does this mean for you guys? Well not too much really. The main issue is that the EIS Shop will remain closed until the move has been completed. It is also likely that a third party will take over the selling and shipping of EIS merchandise, as it is highly unlikely that the EIS will be in a position to store / package / send merchandise in its new premises. That is actually good news for you as it means that someone will be dedicated full time with dealing with your merchandise orders, rather than how it currently works (or not as the case may be) with me trying to fit it in with everything else - so that will be a better service for you. Oh, and I won't be sitting opposite piles of cardboard anymore, so hurrah for that as well.

Thanks to all those that have popped round to visit the EIS office at Harrow Road to say "Hello" over the years - it's always nice to put a face to a name.

I'll publish details of the new EIS postal address etc once the move has been completed.

Regards

"On The Road To Nashville" DVD - US Release

US "On The Road To Nashville" DVD/CD setThe brand new Erasure DVD / CD set "On The Road To Nashville" out yesterday in USA and available in all good record shops.

With more than 14 million albums sold so far, Erasure have always been proudly, defiantly, shamelessly pop but behind the impressive sales figures and kitsch stage costumes, it has sometimes been overlooked just what consistently great songwriters Vince and Andy have been throughout their career.

For 2006's Acoustic Tour Andy Bell and Vince Clarke reworked a selection of the defining songs that embody their two decades together and were joined onstage, for the first time ever, by a full band. Led by guitarist Steve Walsh, Andy Bell's vocals and Vince Clarke's guitar, mandolin and melodica were joined by an array of musicians and instruments that included the pedal steel, autoharp and banjo.

Filmed live on Erasure's "Union Street" Acoustic Tour in May 2006 in Nashville, Tennessee at the Ryman Auditorium (once home of the infamous Grand Ole Opry with a stage that once hosted a teenage Elvis Presley), the DVD features never before seen versions of hits and live favourites such as "Oh L'Amour", "Love To Hate You", "Stop!", "Blue Savannah", "Victim Of Love" and "Sometimes" as well as a short film, "The Road To Union Street", and a bonus audio CD featuring 18 of the live tracks.

"Union Street", a captivating and boldly experimental album for an electronic band, saw Erasure unplugged and bringing soulful new depths and acoustic textures of 11 songs spanning an incredible career that has recently seen Andy Bell and Vince Clarke (also known for his work with Depeche Mode and Yazoo, amongst others) score 32 consecutive UK Top 40 hits and appear in the Book of British Hit Singles as one of the Most Successful Acts of All Time.

"True Colors" Tour Confirmed

Cyndi LauperVarious sources (among which are Andy Bell and Cyndi Lauper themselves) have confirmed that long awaited "True Colors" tour will finally start in June 2007.

Tour scheduled for over 20 cities in USA between May 30th and July 4th. The "Human Rights Campaign" will receive $1 from each ticket sold throughout the tour. The "True Colors" Tour 2007 will feature Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Harry, Erasure, Margaret Cho, The Gossip, Dresden Dolls and other artists, including special artists slated for specific tour event locations.

Brand New Andy Bell Interview

Snippets from the brand new interview with Andy about the new Erasure album and tour has been published at Billboard.com. Andy Bell tells Billboard.com the material was derived both from backing tracks Vince Clarke had sent to him via email and two writing sessions the pair held together in Maine. Bell also took great joy in playing Clarke favorite music from his iPod as inspiration for the new album's sound.

ErasureAmong them, according to Bell: "a remix album called 'Grand 12 Inches,' by Ben Liebrand, and also the Boy George album 'Yum Yum.' Then, things like Miss Kittin and old disco stuff like Shannon, 'Let The Music Play.' And, quite a lot of Giorgio Moroder material, because I love Donna Summer."

Bell is particularly high on album track "Glass Angel," which he likens as a musical sequel to "Rock Me Gently" from Erasure's 1995 self-titled album. "It's quite surreal, the lyrics," he says. "It's a tune that came to me quite quickly, which I always love, because those tunes are kind of meant to be." Thematically, the project is about "being torn between two lovers, which is what I am going through at the moment," Bell says with a chuckle.

Erasure will debut new material this summer during the True Colors tour, which will also feature Cyndi Lauper, Blondie's Debbie Harry and the Gossip. "I feel like I'm in the company of these grand dames," says Bell of the outing, scheduled to begin in June in Seattle. From there, Erasure will play some headlining shows in North America then head to Europe. A gig at London's Royal Albert Hall is also in the works.

Also Andy tells about his impressions from the "Erasure Acoustic" tour. You may read the full article here.

Erasure To Duet With Cyndi Lauper?

Cyndi Lauper is talking in her blog about a collaboration between her and Erasure:

"Tonight I'm singing on a track Andy send over. It's his and his band's for the new Erasure cd.. It's a really cool one, so I'm practicing with it now."
