"The Erasure Show" - Dublin
Here are some news about yesterday's
"The Erasure Show" gig in Dublin. The show was opened again with "No
Doubt", Andy came on stage with angel wings. Vince again rapped in
"Rapture". Encore was "I Bet You're Mad At Me" and "Sometimes". This
time Andy forgot the words to "I Bet You're Mad At Me". Erasure
didn't come out to meet the fans who waited for an hour when
everyone had gone away except Valerie (one of the backing singers).

US Promotion Plan For "Breathe"
We had been known the details of US
promotion plan for "Breathe" (thanks to flatmyer).
"Breathe" was send out in January to
a very select few stations that have supported the band in the US in
recent years to "review" and perhaps play for test spins (1-5 times
to see how it sounds on the air, reaction etc.). From the feedback
given it was then determined that an exclusive US "Radio Mix" might
be needed in addition. Mute North America comissioned The Swiss
American Federation to remix the track, and got a very good result.
SAF have remixed the # 1 hit radio versions for: Enya ("Only Time")
& Celine Dion ("A New Day"), plus did the Madonna megamix for the
"GHV2" release.
The plan from Mute North America & EMI Music Collective for
"Breathe" is to start the big radio push mid to late March - closer
to the tour, so that they can set up promotions with radio in major
markets for exclusive events, shows or studio visits along the tour
route. Radio will be asked to "wait" to add the song into rotation
until then, thus to have a big impact on a 1-2 week period in March.
There are many other opportunities being negotiated ie: TV
appearences, press and video.
For now:
Seattle 89.5 FM KNHC has "Breathe" in the best rotation early (12
times this week)
Other recent "test" stations have been:
KEZR San Jose
KBIG Los Angeles
WKIE Chicago
The "Don't Say You Love Me" maxi-cd will be released on schedule
domestically as a follow-up to the current club-hit and serviced to
club DJs, but the radio focus for the spring will now will be
exclusively on "Breathe".

Andy Bell Explains HIV Diagnosos Remark
Quotes from the article published at
Contactmusic.com:
"Erasure
star Andy Bell has denied he wanted to be diagnosed with HIV before
he eventually caught the virus, although he admits saying he did.
The "A Little Respect" singer, who announced last month (Dec 2004)
he contracted the virus that leads to AIDS in 1998, caused some
controversy recently when he told reporters he thought being HIV
positive "was a touchstone of being gay".
But British Bell says he only meant he had wanted to understand what
living with the virus was like, before he actually caught it
himself.
The 40-year-old says, "It's true. I did say that, but I didn't
really mean it. What I meant was that I wanted to feel what so many
others were feeling."
"People forget that before the drugs became available, it was a
really black time for the gay community. So many of our friends
died."
"We knew a Turkish guy whose partner died and he couldn't handle it
and he killed himself. I always felt guilty that we weren't able to
do more to help him."

"The Erasure Show" tour started yesterday
in Belfast. We have a brief info from several EIS members who

& black basket ball tops and keyrings. The setlist of the gig was as
follows:

02. Hideaway
03. Brother & Sister
04. Knocking On Your Door
05. The Circus
06. Breathe
07. Ship Of Fools
08. Drama!

10. Stop!
11. Rapture
12. Ave Maria
13. Breath Of Life
14. A Little Respect
15. I Broke It All In Two
16. Chains Of Love
17. Chorus
18. Love To Hate You
19. Blue Savannah
20. In My Arms
21. Don't Say You Love Me
22. Oh L'Amour

Client Interview
New interview with Erasure's
supporting band Client has been published at icScotland website.
Here are some interesting snippets from it:
...Q.
Are you looking forward to touring with Erasure?
A. Yes I am actually; I'm really looking forward to the tour. They
are extremely nice. Really lovely, warm people. I toured with them
when I was in Dubstar and they just made us so welcome.
Q. So you've met them a few times then?
A. Yeah. Infact they were recording their album at the same time as
us and I was in the kitchen one day sitting watching Ready Steady
Cook because I'd had enough of listening to snare sounds and Andy
just came in and said 'Hello Sarah', and I thought oh my god, I was
really taken aback that he recognised me and remembered me. It was
great because I've changed quite a bit since I was in Dubstar so
that was very nice.

Erasure's Back Catalogue To Be Re-Released?

"I
work at Heathrow [airport] and last week I met Daniel Miller [head
of Mute Records]. He was on his way to Los Angeles, he is a very
nice guy and was kind enough to stop for a little chat. First
question was: "Will there be Box Sets 5 & 6"? He seemed adamant that
there will be more box sets. Question 2: "This being Erasure's 20th
year, will you be re-releasing their back catalogue"? Answer: "Yes!
Digitally remastered in 5.1 surround sound with maybe a few extras".
He [Daniel] seemed really pleased with the sucsess of "Nightbird"

Andy Bell On Madonna, Scissor Sisters And Pink Grease
Playlouder.com have published a small
but interesting interview with Andy. Here it is.
"PlayLouder had a natter with Andy
Bell from Erasure a wee while back, in which the singer dispelled
his opinion on various of his contemporaries - and questioned the
depth of Madonna's Kabbalah faith.
Bell told our Jeres that he wouldn't snog Ms. Spears, which isn't
much of a surprise given that he's gay as a parrot, and said of Pink
Grease "Ooh, it's a bit raunchy for me, but I do like the
punkiness." Asked about the Scissor Sisters, Bell quipped that "they
owe us everything."
Bell went on to reveal that he has more than a soft spot for
Madonna. "I do like going to gigs but I get so jealous watching
them. I want to be up there myself. I saw Blondie. And I saw Madonna
recently, and I was just like 'Fucking hell she WORKS! That girl!
That woman! She is a religion on her own. She doesn't need the
Kabbalah'."
Bell's boyfriend even got all keen on the idea of signing up to the
faith. "My boyfriend was like 'I want to join the Kabbalah'. He was
phoning up about the accessories and going online. I was like 'honey
I can get you one of those little red bits of wool to put around
your wrist' because they're like £265 or something. I was like 'I
can get you a bit of wool', you know."
But Bell's a canny lad, and can sniff the whiff of bulldoodoo behind
Madge's pontificating.
"I've heard all these stories about the studio she was doing some
mixing in," he said. "She had the Kabbalah water in there that had
been blessed, you know, for £80 a bottle. She took a couple of sips
and then she was drinking out of the tap like everybody else!"

Erasure Article /
Interview With Vince Clarke
New article / interview with Vince
have been publised at "Scotland On Sunday" website. Here are some
Vince's quotes:
"People
are enjoying listening to songs again, and perhaps there is a move
away from dance music which is neither song nor melody based. We’ve
always written songs. Myself and Andy both love three-minute pop
songs and if we can write a song that works with just a guitar and
Andy singing, we are on to a winner."
"Sometimes, I am like his [Andy's
- erasure.ru] Mum. He’s a late night person and I tend to get up
when the cows get up. We have about two hours in the afternoon when
our schedules both meet. I like to look after him and he looks after
me."
"I never felt comfortable writing
songs with anyone else. You bare your soul a bit and you have to
have complete trust and confidence in the person you are working
with. I found that person in Andy. I feel very fortunate in that
way."

"Don't Say You Love Me" Single Details
New Erasure single "Don't Say You
Love Me" will be released in UK on 14th March. "Don't Say You Love
Me" is the follow-up to "Breathe", which entered the UK Chart at
number 4 giving the band their 30th consecutive Top 40 hit. "Don't
Say You Love Me" will be available on two CDs and a DVD. The CDs
include brand new mixes from Mark Moore & Eon and A Touch Of Class
plus the exclusive track, "Lie To Me", while the DVD includes the
single video plus a mix from Piney Gir featuring the St. Helen's
Girl's Choir (thanks to Dmitry Kirin for the info).
The single will also be released in
North America on 5th April.
¨
Billboard Chart Mistake / US Chart Positions For "Breathe"
Billboard statement:
"Because of an errant UPC code,
Erasure's "Breathe" was initially tracked as an album and
inadvertently excluded from debuting in this issue on the Hot Dance
Singles Sales or Hot 100 Singles Sales charts.
The title, available as a maxi-CD, scanned enough to place it at No.
1 on the Dance Sales chart and at No. 2 on Hot 100 Singles Sales. It
will be tracked as a single on next week's charts."
"Breathe"
did chart on the Billboard Electronic Albums Chart at # 8, but
removed it from the 5th February issue after the mistake was
noticed.
"Breathe" also charting in Billboard
Hot Dance Club Play chart:
This week: # 21 (Power pick) Last
week: # 29
(thanks to flatmyer for the info)
