EIS Newsletter:

Hallo!

Well, you didn't like Jody Watley's version of 'A Little Respect' did you? What a selection of emails I received on the subject following the last newsletter and not one of them was complimentary! It's a good job that I have a few bits and pieces of real news for you this week, hopefully some of this will be more to your taste... have a great weekend!

Andy Bell To Headline European Gay Ski Week

Andy will be performing as part of the entertainment at this year's European Gay Ski Week which will take place at France's Tignes resort between March 20th and 27th... a week's skiing and an evening with Andy all in one package! See Andy's website for more details.

Vince Clarke's 3D Audioscape At The Royal Albert Hall

A sound installation created by Vince Clarke and Martyn Ware will be featured at the forthcoming 3D Soundclash event at London's Royal Albert Hall on February 18th between 8pm and midnight. The event comes courtesy of the Red Bull Music Academy whose website gives more information about the project...

Erasure Mates Meet-Up

A group of fans are arranging an unofficial meet-up for fellow fans in Sheffield on March 13th, there's talk of a meal but the focus is on a night out at Reflex, the city's 80s club. More information can be found on the event's Facebook page!

Vince Clarke Remix Of Nitzer Ebb Reissued

Nitzer Ebb have released a new compilation, 'In Order', this week which sees all their b-sides, remixes and rarities available digitally for the first time, including Vince Clarke's Anonymous remix of 'Ascend' from 1992. The release is available on iTunes UK and all good online stores.

A Blast From The Past!

It's The Brit Awards again on February 16th and there a new Brits website which not only gives details of this year's ceremony but also has an archive of the best bits from previous years, including Andy Bell receiving the award for Best British Group from Boy George in 1989. It's part of the notorious show that was hosted by Mick Fleetwood and Samantha Fox where everything went wrong, so it's well worth a look on a number of levels!

The Only Doll I Ever Owned...

II stumbled across these Erasure dolls online this week (don't ask me what search terms I was using!) and thought they were worth a little mention here. They're not official of course and I can't vouch for the shop that is selling them, but they're here in case you fancy a look!

EIS Newsletter:

Hola!

Another mini-newsletter this week but I can assure you that behind the scenes there are all sorts of gears grinding into action so I hope that I will be bringing you some more substantial news soon. Patience, as they say, is a virtue!

Vince Clarke & Ghostgirl:Homecoming

You may remember that a couple of months ago I reported that Vince has created several pieces of original instrumental music for the audio edition of Tonya Hurley's young adult novel 'Ghostgirl: Homecoming', which is narrated by Parker Posey and is available from Audible.com from this week. 'Ghostgirl:Homecoming' is currently battling it out in the Teen Choice category at the Children's Choice Book Awards so if you could take a moment to vote then it would be great exposure, not only for the book but also for Vince! Thank you...

Another Reinterpretation Of "A Little Respect"...

Last week I included links to two recent covers of Erasure's 'A Little Respect' by Theoretical Girl and Audio Playground which I know some you have been enjoying. Following that newsletter I received an email from Benjamin who reported that Jody Watley has also recorded a version for inclusion on the UK edition of her recent album 'The Makeover' which was released in October last year. You can hear a snippet of Jody Watley's version on Amazon UK if you're interested!

Two Reinterpretations Of "A Little Respect"

Given that I'm a bit short of actual news this week there's plenty of space for me to point you towards two recent(ish) covers of Erasure's A Little Respect. Theoretical Girl has recorded a pretty little acoustic version for an audio advent calendar she did for her blog in the run-up to Christmas (it's on Day 21 at the link below if you fancy a listen) which is new to me. I think I've mentioned the Audio Playground's version before although I don't think I've seen this video so that link is below for you too. Thanks to Stephano for sending over both links.

EIS Newsletter:

Goedendag!

Gelukkig nieuwjaar... or, if you're not Dutch, Happy New Year to you, I hope you had a wonderful festive season! I have to confess that there's not a huge amount of news this week but there's enough to make up a modest newsletter and it does give me the chance to wish you all the very best for 2010. The year is already shaping up to be a very busy one so, as ever, keep an eye out for these newsletters and watch the various websites for upcoming news from Erasure, Yazoo and Andy Bell.

Here's the news...

Lexer Music Winter Sale

Lexer Music is currently running a special one-off seasonal sale which was due to finish last week but has been extended by a week until January 8th to allow me to include it in this newsletter in order to give everyone the chance to take advantage of their current half price offers on Erasure, Yazoo and Andy Bell merchandise. There are t-shirts, keyrings, mobile-phone socks, postcards, tour programmes, mugs, snowglobes, mouse mats, badges and magazines all available at 50% off their usual prices, so it's well worth heading over to the Lexer Music website for a little look!

The Innocents - New US Review

The Salt Lake Under Ground Magazine (affectionately known as the SLUG!) has published a great review of the deluxe edition of The Innocents which was released in the US in December. See the news section on the website for more details and for a couple of US retail links for the 21st anniversary edition of The Innocents.

Vince Clarke Interview Online At Clash Music

A 'Personality Clash' piece featuring Vince Clarke in conversation with Hercules & Love Affair's Andy Butler has been published at the Clash Music website... it's a great read but slightly odd timing in that the conversation seems to have taken place before the Yazoo reunion tour in 2008!

Top Of The Pops!

Italian website SPL80 has voted Erasure's 'Total Pop!' release the best compilation release of 2009, and quite right too!

This week's newsletter greeting and farewell are in Dutch courtesy of Marc, thank you! If you'd like to see your language used in a future newsletter then please let me know!

Alle goeds voor het komende jaar!

Cheers

Richard
