¨ "On The Road To Nashville" DVD Out Now!

The brand new Erasure DVD "On The Road To Nashville" out today in UK and available in all good record shops.

With more than 14 million albums sold so far, Erasure have always been proudly, defiantly, shamelessly pop but behind the impressive sales figures and kitsch stage costumes, it has sometimes been overlooked just what consistently great songwriters Vince and Andy have been throughout their career.

For 2006's Acoustic Tour Andy Bell and Vince Clarke reworked a selection of the defining songs that embody their two decades together and were joined onstage, for the first time ever, by a full band. Led by guitarist Steve Walsh, Andy Bell's vocals and Vince Clarke's guitar, mandolin and melodica were joined by an array of musicians and instruments that included the pedal steel, autoharp and banjo.

Filmed live on Erasure's "Union Street" Acoustic Tour in May 2006 in Nashville, Tennessee at the Ryman Auditorium (once home of the infamous Grand Ole Opry with a stage that once hosted a teenage Elvis Presley), the DVD features never before seen versions of hits and live favourites such as "Oh L'Amour", "Love To Hate You", "Stop!", "Blue Savannah", "Victim Of Love" and "Sometimes" as well as a short film, "The Road To Union Street", and a bonus audio CD featuring 18 of the live tracks.

"Union Street", a captivating and boldly experimental album for an electronic band, saw Erasure unplugged and bringing soulful new depths and acoustic textures of 11 songs spanning an incredible career that has recently seen Andy Bell and Vince Clarke (also known for his work with Depeche Mode and Yazoo, amongst others) score 32 consecutive UK Top 40 hits and appear in the Book of British Hit Singles as one of the Most Successful Acts of All Time.

Well it's been a pretty exciting week so far, with Andy and Vince taking part in the video shoot for the new single.

Behind the scenes footage of the video shoot will be published on the Erasure website in due course - just to wet your appetites, a section of the video is described as "time splits off in wild tangents parallel to their reality" - make of that what you will!

¨ New Erasure Single & Album Release Dates

The brand new Erasure album is to be released on the 21st May in the UK. The North American release date is 22nd May.

The first single from the album has a release date of 2nd April. (The North American single details haven't been confirmed at the time of writing.)

As for the titles of the new album and single, I'm afraid I'm not going to tell you - I'll going to let Andy and Vince tell you in the following video clip:

¨ New Military Look For Erasure

In case you thought Gareth's diary is over, it is not yet! It has been updated with another interesting entries.

The album title and release date are remaining unknown to Gareth, he figure the best place to get this information will be the EIS. The album is completely mastered and done, Gareth and Andy worked on the running order of the tracks and as a result they dropped another 2 songs off the main album. However, Gareth noted that all the songs they have done will be released on some format or another.

The most interesting thing is the new Erasure photo shoot, that was also done recently. We may see on the pics and videos that Erasure had new military look for this photo session.

¨ Andy Bell On Radio 2 Downloads

Andy Bell appeared on the Lee Mack Show on Radio 2 on Thursday 18th January. He performed live three tracks which are available now for downloading in the "Media" section (click on "Audio" link).

¨ Until The Twelfth Of Never Compilation 2007

Erasure fan James finished an update for his famous "Until The Twelfth Of Never" compilation. For those who don't know or don't remember, it was originally a 2CD mp3 compilation to compile rare, unreleased and unavailable tracks relating to Erasure.

This time it's now on a DVD+CD set (56+ hours worth of mp3 audio). For 2007, he updated this collection to include everything that was previously released in the "Until The Twelfth Of Never" collection, plus a whole slew of new material that couldn't fit on the original releases or had been released / obtained after the original collection was done.

On 9th February will see the release of volume 2 of the popular "Elektrisch!" compilation series almost exactly one year after the release of the first volume. Out via Major Records it holds exclusive remixes totalling 28 selected tracks (on the limited 2CD edition that is). "9 Mixes ready for Mastering

We had a great last day in the Studio - Daniel was very helpful with a couple of tracks - they really came on in the final stages. We finish next year with the rest of the tracks and some extra B sides that Vince is working on at the moment. Andy will be back in the studio at the beginning of January to voice those tracks and we will finish the LP mixes then. A great end to the year. Thanks Everyone."

"Over the holidays Vince worked on another tune that we started in Falmouth, and it arrived a couple of days ago. Andy came down to sing it today. After a couple of warm ups he did the vocal in one take (with one drop in - he is so new to this arrangement of the song that he hadn't quite learned the structure) So it is a very fresh interpretation.

Also we are doing ongoing tweaks of the mixes - a few minor things and a few major things. Vince was unhappy with a couple of changes that were made with Daniel in in London, and he has asked to hear mixes based more on the Falmouth material. So far this has been a very productive exchange of ideas and feelings."
